IIS SQL Server connection error (urgent)
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server (0x80004005)
Login failed for user 'Administrator'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
when I installed SQL Server I set username and password to windows default which is Administrator and no password
the asp files are on IIS (localhost)
connstr = "Provider=SQLOLEDB;" &_
"Data Source=(local);" &_
"Initial Catalog=ShotWatcher;"&_
"User ID=Administrator;"&_
"Password="
shouldn't this work?
Please Help
JustinDo you have a SQL Server Standard account called Administrator? Or you're trying to use Windows account with the same name? If it's the latter, - remove User ID and Password attributes and replace them with Integrated Security=SSPI.|||And in connection string you should specify TRUSTED_CONNECTION=TRUE and try using servername instead of specifying local.
KBA (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;306586) to more about it.|||i'll try that, thx
IIS server set up for .net app
I use windows authentication for .net app to connection to sql 2k server.
I got the following error --(Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not
associated with a trusted SQL Server connection)
Connection string -- server=sql serv1;database=mydb;trusted_connection
= true
appserver = app1
Any ideas?
The idea is that the windows user account used to run your application
(Window Form app or ASP.NET app?) does not have a mapped SQL Server login
created in the SQL Server, thus cannot log into SQL Server.
You need to create a SQL Server login that mapps to that windows user
account or a Windows user security group, which includes that user account
as member. Then you need to add this SQL Server login to target database as
user, then assign appropriate permissions.

If the Windows user account is not in your domain and you use Trusted
Connections then you get this error.

iis connection problem with sql server
I am new to this so please bear with me. I have scoured the ms help pages
and could not find the answer so here goes:
I have a web serverwith iis and a db sql server on separate boxes.
I am trying to use the tool configure sql xml support in iis to connect to
the server.
I tried following the instructions given. However, when I try the connect
option and type in the computer name of the webdev server (which does have
iis installed) I get the following error: 'An error occurred connecting to
'webdev'. This server does not exist or is unavailable.'
I have double-checked to make sure that iis does exist in the webdev server.
there is no iis installed on the sql server box.
What am I doing wrong here?
Please help me out if you can.
Thanks : )
Hi there,
To Clarify, webdev is the name of the Web Server? When you say you try the
"connect option", the connect option in what? Our IIS tool? That is
supposed to connect to the db server.

|||Unless you mean right-clicking the IIS Virtual Directory Manager node in the
tree-pane and clicking Connect, in which case it's looking for an IIS server
to manage (in other words you want to use the Configure SQL XML Support in
IIS tool to create a SQLISAPI application on a remote IIS server). I assume
SQLXML has to be installed on the Web server you're connecting to (and you
might as well download and install SQLXML 3.0, which is the latest version,
rather than use the version that shipped with SQL Server 2000).
If that doesn't resolve it, it could simply be a network name resolution
issue. Can you ping the Web server from the computer where the SQL XML
config tool is installed? Can you manage IIS remotely using the standard IIS
Manager tool?

IID_IDBInitialize interface of sql mobile 2005 problem in VisualStudio2005
Opening a connection to the database in Visual Studio 2005 and while closing the connection donot release the IID_IDBInitialize interface ,properties and not Uninitialising.
Try to open database file using CFile to check existence.
Works perfectly using sqlce2.0 & evc4.0 project.
After upgrading the above project to Visual Studio 2005
Same CFile open method fails at run time
But if close the connection completely i.e. close the IID_IDBInitialize interface also .Then it works perfectly in Visual Studio 2005.
Is there any change in IID_IDBInitialize interface of sql mobile 2005 ?
SQL Mobile *REALLY* commits the changes to DISK FILE at a default flush interval of 10 seconds. So, may be the database might have been created in RAM and is yet to be flushed to DISK and with in this flush interval, you might hit this problem.
Thanks,
Laxmi Narsimha Rao ORUGANTI, SQL Server Everywhere, Microsoft Corporation
|||of course, this default interval (for commit transaction) could be changed and you could ask the SQL CE 3.0 engine to flush in real time (what we do in our development)
HTH,
Fabien.
