Images

When you have a column property set to image, does it link to or does it embed the image in the table?

Davids Learning

If you specify the coloumn as image, this simply means that you are storing binary data. The name image is sometime is bit misleading :-)

Hi !

If you are in SQL Server 2005, I would prefer the VARBINARY(MAX),as the IMAGE and the TEXT are tro be deprecated in further versions. If you are on SQL Server 2000, I would prefer using either the IMAGE or the TEXT (in common it makes no difference, because they are nearly implemented the same way, beside that the TEXT type has some extra function which on work on that type). In this case, as you appearantly will need no functions of the TEXT type, I would choose IMAGE.

thanks alotI have not used RS2005, but in Rs2000 that you need drop and drag a image component to your report and set database filed to this image, and then drag the image to you grid or matrix.
hope this can help you

Image not displayed in report

I am creating a very simple report in VS 2005. I dragged an image
control to the report surface and set it's value property to the
virtual path of my image (like "~/SubPage/Trademark.jpg"). However,
the image is never displayed - either at design time, when the report
viewer runs, or when the report is exported to PDF. I just get the
standard "No image" (red X) icon.
I have read other posts about this but most of them were trying to do
something more complicated than me. At this point, I am not trying to
do any logic for the visibility or the value it is trying to display.
I read about a bug that might be related here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/842537/
...but I am not sure if this pertains to me (as I am not pointing to a
URL, but rather a virtual path). I am leery of applying this SP2
patch, as there is no way to uninstall it, and I am not sure if it
will "break" anything that is currently working.
I would appreciate any suggestions that anyone could give me.
Thank you!Kirk,
Try embedding the image into the report instead of using the URL.

To make it work, do what Marie says or use absolute URL
(http://www.yourpage.com/Subpage/Trademark.jpg)

Thanks for the replies. I used the absolute URL and that worked.
It's unfortunate that this does not work with a relative path.
Obviously, thing change (and move around on servers) and having to
update the application just to update absolute URL's is goofy. I
know, I know, you can add this as a configuration setting so that you
don't have to rebuild the site - I was just whining.
Thanks again!

Image from Business Object property?

Hello!
I'm using the local reporting services engine within a WinForm
application. I have a Business Object that contains a field which returns a
Bitmap. The Bitmap is created from other values within the same business
object. An example of the properties are below.
I'm binding my report to my BusinessObject and everything is going quite
well with the exception of displaying the graph bitmap within an Image
ReportItem. I've tried different Source types for the Image properties -
Database, Embedded, External but none seem to like the Bitmap within a
property on the Object Data Source.
I saw a few ways to develop a CustomerReportItem and will head down that
road but it seems like I'm missing something really simple. Any thoughts or
helpful tips are welcome.
Thanx,
Mike Q
public class MyBusinessObject
{
public decimal IndexValue
{
get
{
some calculations;
}
}
public Bitmap IndexGraph
{
get
{
Bitmap Result = Bitmap.FromFile("GraphTemplate.bmp");
Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage(Result);
Pen RedPen = new Pen(Brushes.Red, 5);
g.DrawLine(RedPen, 40, 0, 40, 50); // These values are calculated based on
the Index value.
return Result;
}
}
}I found the answer - instead of returning a Bitmap - return a byte[] from
the business object property
Thanx,

Image control in RDLC report page.

Using RDLC report file, How can i set the image path on image control to the image in my folder \images.

I don't see any ImageURL property in such control.

thanks,

Hi,

From your description, it seems that you want to add a image in your report, right?

You can include stored images in a report by specifying a URL to the image. When you use an external image in a report, the image source is set to External and the value for the image is the URL address to the image. For a report published to a report server configured for native mode, use a full or relative path. For example,http://<servername>/images/image1.jpg. For a report published to a report server configured in SharePoint integrated mode, use a fully qualified URL. For example,http://<SharePointservername>/<site>/Documents/images/image1.jpg.

For more information, see:

Thanks.

iif inside iif

I'd error message on this expression ,

It is written in hidden property of an image

Can you help me to correct it?

thanks all.

=iif(Parameters!Direction.Value = "none", True, iif(Parameters!Direction.Value = "Ascending",True,False )

You are missing a closing ")" and when comparing strings I would use the "equals" method.

Here is what the statement should be:

=iif(Parameters!Direction.Value.equals("none"), True, iif(Parameters!Direction.Value.equals("Ascending"),True,False ))
