Images do not display in Reporting Sevices on Windows 2003 Server

Hi,
I have reporting services installed on windows 2003 server.
Embedded Images do display in designer preview, but they do not display in
Report Manager or browser. When I use localhost instead of my machine name in
report url, then images are displayed. I have installed service pack 1 & 2
for RS. After that I installed SP4 for SQL Server. Can some body help in this
regard?
Thanks in anticipation.Hi
Following issue is resolved.
Please look at following link. "_" in the machine name is the
culprit. I used the IP and it worked fine. Also replace machine name in
report server and report manager config files with machine IP address.

matter what file format your using (png, gif etc.) The only way I've found
around it (which isn't acceptable in my opinion) is to use the "fit"
parameter for the image.
From what I've read - RS sends a jscript to resize image in browser. I'm
guessing it fails to work because it is line art.

Images as project

Hi, i have just using the images as project, but strange thing happen...
when i preview the project, it's alright, and if i export from the preview,
i can see the pictures, but if i open the report using http:// or right
clicking the solution and click run, , the picture doesn't show up... and it
is showing as X...
can anyone help me? where do i need to restore the file to..' does it has
to be saved on the server first?
thank you.Normally report designer should publish project images when deploying a
project.
Do you see images when you browse report folder in Report Manager?

You need to deploy the images to the Report Server (same as you did for the
reports i.e rdl files).
Good Luck,
Jas.

Images aren't being displayed in deployed Reports

Hi everybody,

When I develop and run (preview) a report in my machine (Vs.net 2003), the report is displayed correctly, including images.

But, when I deploy the report to the server (Win2k Server), the report runs OK, but the images are not displayed! Tongue Tied

I've already tried everything I found in the internet about this problem .... changed the way of put the image in the report (Embedded, External), tried an image with only RGB colors, changed the account for unattended execution (rsconfig) .... but nothing worked!!!

Does anybody have any idea about what might be happening?

Thanks a lot!!Make sure cookies are enabled in your browser. Images rely on sessions and sessions rely on cookies.

To better diagnose this you can right click on the missing image icon right after rendering report, go to properties and copy link for the image. Make sure you copy the entire link. Then paste it in the address bar of the same window that displays report. You'll see better error message.|||Yes, cookies are enabled.

Actually, view the properties of the image was the first step I took ...

The image link:
http://server/ReportServer?%2fOpexReports%2fReport1&rs%3aFormat=HTML4.0&rs%3aImageID=6b02dc52-73b7-489e-8dfe-730e6d9bfd6b

when I copy the link in IE, I get this error:

Reporting Services Error

The stream cannot be found. The stream identifier that is provided to an operation cannot be located in the report server database. (rsStreamNotFound) Get Online Help|||I SOLVED THE PROBLEM!!

I discovered that images in report rendering rely on session and cookies.
When you have and underscore "_" in the server name, this may cause some session problems.

So I update the field UseSessionCookies to 'False' in the ConfigurationInfo table, in the RS Database. The images are now displayed! Big Smile

Regards!|||

Hi Rodrigo,

I am also facing the problem similar to your problem. I have followed your approach for solution, but unfortunately i am not able to get the solution.

Can you please provide me some approach for solving this problem

Images and PDF Export POST SP2

I've come accross the same problem having also installed SP2. Still looking
for the answer.
I did notice that exporting via the preview window in Visual Studio works
perfectly. It's only exporting to pdf via a browser that causes the
scrambled images.
Does anyone have a work around, besides changing every report to read a png
image? We still need transparency.

.Net assembly. I get the same results through the browser and VS IDE.

(color type 3). If your graphics editing program allows you to specify the
color type of your PNG and save it as a type 3 file you should be fine.
Prior to SP2, we converted all images to bitmaps which bloated the PDF file.
We now compress but have less flexibility on certain image types.
I've opened a bug for this issue so we can hopefully get it fixed in Yukon.
The easiest work-around for our SQL Server 2000 release is to save as a type
3 file or use a jpg.

It is interesting though that you mention that RS doesn't currently support
true color w/alpha PNG files. I'm not even using PNG, it's RS that is
converting it to

(color type 3) from the browser, transparency doesn't work (and it use to
under SP1). As proof that the image is transparent, I can print using the
new print button and transparency works fine. Also when exporting to pdf
via Visual Studio transparency works fine as well (of course so did the 24
bit png).
At least it's not scrambled though!

image won't show up

Hey all,
I have an image to put into a report. It's a jpg. I can see it in
layout view, but in preview or when deployed, i get a red "x" - any
idea why or how to fix it? Thanks!!
jenrI have experienced the same problem in 2005 - NEVER in 2000!
I don't know what is happening!

Is the image in your "project" ?
Was the image deployed to your server with the "deploy" of the project?
That is all I have ever done in the past - but I am speculating "here" and I
think there are some weird issues with the GDI of 2005! As I have said in
previous posts a graphical report in RS2000 works perfectly and taking the
same report to 2005 - some graphs are never rendered - a GDI+ error. Maybe
not the same with a *.jpg - but something for sure is funny somewhere.

Image rendering in IE

Hi All,
I cannot get any of my images to display in reports. I have tried all type
of image storage..embedded, external and database and they preview ok but
when i display the report through report manager or URL, the images will not
show. Any ideas?
regardsIt wouldn't be security settings preventing the display of images would it?

server...there is an underscore in it. IE doesn't view an underscore as a
valid charecter so it cannot resolve the pictures. The solution was to either
rename the server or change the "UseSessioncookies" flag in the reporting
services db. In the table configurationInfo I changes the flag to false and
lo and behold it worked.

Image not showing Up

When a build a report in vs.net and click the preview tab, the images show up correctly on the report output. But after I deploy the report to the reportserver and view the report, the images do no show up. Just the outline where the images should be. Do
you have any suggestions as to why the images are not showing up? Thanks.
Joe S.
If this is in a web browser, and you right-click the image and hit
properties, what is the URL that is given? Have you deployed the images to
that location?

Image and Table Layout

In the Layout tab, I've placed a jpg image behind a table. In other words,
the table lays on top of the image. In the Preview tab, I can see the image
behind the table, which is exactly what I want.
When I build and deploy, then look at the report in IE, I see the image with
the table pushed down the page. The overlap between the table and image is
gone, even though it's still overlayed in the preview tab. Any ideas on what
to set so that the table stays overlayed on top of the image when I looking
at the deployed report?
Thanks,
--
RandyTry inserting a rectangle object on to your report, making your jpg the
background image for this rectangle and then place your table in the
rectangle.

Hi Randy,
As Magendo has mentioned, you can drag a Rectangle on the report first, set
the rectangle's backgroundImage as the image you want to display as
background. Then put your Table over that rectangle. BTW, the Table
reportItem itself also support backgrounimage setting and it can display
the image behind the table content (when we set backgroundcolor as
Transparent-- the default setting). Does this also a possible solution for
your scenario?
Please feel free to post here if there is any further questions.
Sincerely,
Steven Cheng

IIS Virtual Directory Settings

Hi and hopefully thanks for the help.
I have some issues with regard to deploying reports that I can design and
preview.
When I try to deploy I get the 'no report server found' at the directory I
have created in IIS.
Is this to do with settings in the virtual directory or something else?
The Report Server service is running. I am using this on a demo machine with
everything on one machine, sql etc.
ThanksAlso when I try to open report manager, I get an error/welcome page for IIS
as well as the IIS page. Any ideas would be welcome.
Thanks
